Cards on the Table

What was I thinking in dreaming up Outshining AI.

I’ll explain as best I can.

It boils down to trying to get a grip, as so many of us are, on this rocket ship of a technology. However, not just the tech details and the workings of AI tools, but also what AI means for us now and into the future as a spiritually evolving people.

Spiritually evolving people? That’s a big assumption, isn’t it?

Yes, it is. After all, too many on earth are enslaved to the dark side.

Be that as it may, the ‘why’ of Outshining AI goes to a personal belief that we earthlings must learn how to exercise wise dominion over AI by becoming wiser ourselves. We need to grow in integrity and wisdom alongside AI’s relentlessly accelerating smarts. That is our way forward, I believe. It’s the path to maintaining dominion over AI even as it becomes way more intelligent than us.

Heaven knows we won’t be able to outsmart AI. But I believe we do have a superpower we can bring to bear. We each carry a spark of divinity within us. “Made in the image and likeness of God” is how Genesis expresses it. Jesus said it even better: “The kingdom of God is within you.”

I believe that if we hope to control rapidly advancing AI, we must accelerate in the virtues that reflect that image. Patience, honesty, courage, loving kindness and more. We also need to rein in that lesser self that bends us toward fear, pride and other unhealthy tendencies. Because the stronger the AI machine becomes, the more tethered our inner life must be to what is pure and true.

Outshining AI is being built to share what I and others are learning, and to help us all grow real skills with these extraordinary tools without losing ourselves in the process.

Dominion over AI means proper stewardship: knowledge treated as a trust for the common good. Outshining AI will test, question and explain with that standard in mind. We’ll feature what uplifts and set aside what doesn’t.

I’m studying as hard as I can, writing as plainly as I can, and inviting you to do the same—so that together we can see a way forward, master AI tools, and never hand those same tools the keys to our conscience.
